about

In 2019 Half A Cow released an EP called Find me rewinding by a band from Perth, Western Australia called The City Views. They are a three-piece indie-rock band who may appeal to fans of Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr and Swervedriver with a little bit of Smudge or Lemonheads thrown in the mix. In 2021 The City Views are back with a new 4 track EP titled: The future is the past. These new tracks see the band expand on their last EP - with quieter quiets and louder louds - while still bringing a swag of indie pop hooks to keep your feet tapping and a grin on your face. The title track was inspired (or rather uninspired) by the election of one Donald John Trump. Disillusioned by the news of the US election results. Guitarist/Songwriter Dave Wallace penned the tune on acoustic guitar on the day the news broke. The band later fleshed this quaint little defeatist anthem into the epic slow build that is: The future is the past. The second track Period Drama harks back to the classic indie 3-piece pop/rock the band have become well known for, while track three, A Grave Situation, brings things back down to a moodier, more personal place. The EP ends with a nod to the sounds of bands like You Am I with the track So long, which was originally written for Dave and Sid’s (Drums) side project The Jangle Band. A fitting end to the EP as the track is the last recording made with bass player Tom Goodrick. With new bass man Harry ‘Hazz’ Kneen on board, The City Views are back!
